Don’t Let Tooth Pain Control Your Life—Expert Root Canal Care Is Here

If you’re experiencing severe tooth pain, sensitivity, or swelling, you may need a root canal. At APEX Dental Implants and Family Dentistry Services, Dr. Jay specializes in gentle, effective root canal therapy designed to relieve pain, eliminate infection, and save your natural tooth.

What Is a Root Canal?

A root canal is a dental procedure that removes infected or damaged pulp inside a tooth, cleans and disinfects the canals, and seals them to prevent further infection. It allows you to keep your natural tooth rather than having it extracted.

Signs You May Need a Root Canal

  • Persistent tooth pain or throbbing
  • Sensitivity to hot or cold lasting minutes
  • Swelling or tenderness around the tooth or gums
  • Darkening or discoloration of the tooth
  • A recurring pimple or bump on the gums
  • Pain when chewing or biting

If you experience these symptoms, don’t wait. Early treatment helps prevent complications.

Root Canal Treatment – Frequently Asked Questions

Is root canal treatment painful?

No. With modern anesthesia and techniques, root canal therapy is no more uncomfortable than getting a filling. Many patients feel immediate relief from pain afterward.

How long does a root canal take?

Treatment typically takes one to two visits, each lasting about 60 to 90 minutes depending on the tooth and severity of infection.

What happens if I don’t get a root canal?

Ignoring infection can lead to abscesses, severe pain, tooth loss, and spread of infection to other parts of your body.

Will my tooth need a crown after the root canal?

Most teeth require a crown after treatment to restore strength and prevent fractures, especially molars.

Can a root canal-treated tooth get infected again?

While rare, reinfection can occur. Regular dental check-ups help monitor treated teeth.

Is root canal therapy covered by insurance?

Root canals are usually covered by dental insurance plans. Our team will help verify your benefits.

Dr Nigam is great! Always has a huge smile on his face and is fun and funny as well as knowledgeable. I followed him from Scottsdale to Litchfield Park and back to Scottsdale again. That's how much I believe in him! So much so that I had him replace all of my teeth with crowns and now I have a beautiful smile to show for it. Susan at the front desk is amazing and always super friendly and helpful and the technicians and hygienists are fabulous and knowledgeable. I don't have anything bad to say about Apex Dental... they're the best!

I was visiting family when I had a dental emergency, and I’m so grateful I found Dr. Nigam. From the moment I walked in, Dr. Nigam and his entire staff were welcoming, kind, and incredibly caring. Everyone made me feel comfortable during what could have been a very stressful experience. Dr. Nigam took the time to explain everything in detail, making sure I understood my treatment options and answered all of my questions with patience and compassion. The level of care and professionalism from both him and his amazing staff was truly outstanding. Even though I don’t live in the area, I would absolutely travel back to see Dr. Nigam for any future dental needs. It’s rare to find a dental team that combines such expertise with genuine kindness. I highly recommend Dr. Nigam and his wonderful staff to anyone looking for exceptional dental care!
